Another One Bites The Dust

The digital photography age has probably claimed another victim as Polaroid announce they are to stop film production and close four US factories. Polaroid stopped making cameras last year, and will concentrate on producing electrical goods including mobile printers and digital cameras.

Polaroid introduced instant photography to the world 60 years ago, with popular use of the format reaching it’s peak in the 1960’s and 70’s. The photographic medium was also used by some famous name fine art photographers Ansel Adams, David Hockney and Robert Rauschenberg.

At present no other manufacturer has taken up the mantle of producing film for people who may still want to work in instant photography.
